Caramel Apple Pecan Pie

I must have eaten at least 1 slice of pecan pie in my past. I am from the south but for the life of me, I cannot remember the experience. I asked a few friends about pecan pie and observed the way their eyes rolled in their heads as they remembered a delectable treat. I needed to make this pie.

I found an amazing recipe for Caramel Apple Pecan Pie and, in the words of my 3 year old son, I NEEDED to make this pie. But is it a pecan pie? I did some more research and asked a few more friends and discovered that pecan pies usually do not have apples in them. At this point, though, the wheels were in motion and I really needed to make this pie.

Plus, it’s Halloween season which means that the stores returned the caramel to their shelves. Did you know that caramels are not on sale year round? It’s true.

So, while this may not be an actual pecan pie, it is an amazing Halloween/Thanksgiving pie. BEWARE! This pie is awesome.
